Enterprise Scheduling

The court scheduling system has been purpose built to manage the specific demands of the court service. It includes a number of unique features specifically designed for commercial courts. By working closely with court listing officers, the system has been fine tuned to become a tool that improves the speed and efficiency of the court scheduling process.

The Listing window is set out in such a way that the user can immediately see available appearance dates and times for events.

Calendar view with description

allows an authorised user to schedule an event in a variety of ways.

  • An event can be scheduled directly via the main term/month/week and day views by selecting a vacant slot of the required duration.
  • Time can be blocked for ad-hoc events assigned by the system. For example a Judge may reserve his/her Tuesday mornings to hear urgent Applications. When an Application is received by the system it will be automatically assigned to the next available Tuesday that is not fully booked.
  • The authorised user can search for a time-slot according to a given set of criteria. Note that priority should be given to the highest value resources which inevitably means the Judge’s time. For example, a skilled listing officer will often book an appearance if a Judge was available even if a piece of equipment was missing. Search criteria are built into script add-ins which can be assigned to any object or individual such as courts or users.

Optionally an event could be scheduled via Outlook and confirmed by the listing officer.

It is a fundamental design principle of the court scheduling system that it is a tool for the skilled scheduling officer to use. The scheduling process requires a great deal of knowledge and experience that cannot be fully automated without massive computing power. is designed to automate the many mundane tasks and provide a basis for consistency. Thereafter the scheduling officer can apply more time to the more complex issues and offer a value added service.

Specific court processing rules can be built into script add-ins which can be activated if the location requires it. Search criteria can also be built into scripts to allow users the use of additional methods of search.

setting up the calendar in the system utilities

Court dates, such as holidays and terms, are set by an administrator in the System Utilities.

judge not available
Judges can book their vacation time or personal time in their Personal Diaries. These entries then automatically appear in the Court diary as ‘Judge not Available’, as shown below.
